Next Sunday the Vuelta a España fememina by Carrefour.es will start and Tamara Dronova will be one of our riders on the start line.
The Russian rider is coming from the spring classics, more focused on the cobblestones, although she was at the start of the Ardennes in the Amstel Gold Race. Things have not gone as expected “spring classics are always difficult, the road, the weather, spring…” says the Russian.
After the Amstel Gold Race, Tamara took a few weeks to return home to recharge her batteries and finalise her training for the second part of the season, the stage races. “The training went well, it turned out to do everything that was planned, to be with my family and with good weather” says.
This year, the women’s Vuelta a España has improved the number of days of competition, now there are 8 stages “All women’s races have become more interesting and more difficult at the same time” assures Dronova, who last year did a good race in Spain being among the best in some stages “Yes, last year’s Vuelta was not bad, let’s see what happens this time”.
Having done well last year gives him a lot of confidence for 2024, although the plan for the general classification will be determined as the days go by. “My chances, as well as some specific stages, will depend on many factors, we do not yet know who will be the gc leader, as well as who will get what goal, I know for sure that most likely I will be Maggie’s assistant at the sprint stages” concludes.
Good luck and good Vuelta!
